Epithelioid sarcoma

Epithelioid sarcoma is a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue sarcoma that primarily affects young adults between the ages of 20 and 40, although it can occur in individuals of any age. It typically arises in the soft tissues of the extremities (such as hands, fingers, feet, or lower legs) but can also develop in other parts of the body.

Epithelioid sarcoma is characterised by the proliferation of cancerous cells that resemble epithelial cells, which are the cells that line the surfaces of organs and tissues. These cancer cells can invade surrounding tissues and may spread to distant sites such as lymph nodes or other organs.

The exact cause of epithelioid sarcoma is unknown, and there are no specific risk factors identified.
