Types of Sarcoma

How Many Different types of sarcomas are there 

soft tissue sarcomas

Soft tissue sarcomas can arise from various tissues, including muscles, fat, blood vessels, tendons, nerves, and other connective tissues.

 

Examples of soft tissue sarcomas include:

Bone sarcomas
 

Bone sarcomas: These sarcomas originate from bone tissues. Examples of bone sarcomas include:  

Gastrointestinal tract tumours (GIST) 

Uterine sarcomas

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP)

Benign Sarcomas

Benign sarcomas, also known as benign soft tissue tumours, are non-cancerous growths that develop in the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles, tendons, fat, nerves, and blood vessels. Although they are not cancerous, benign they are not cancerous, benign sarcomas can still cause symptoms depending on their size and location. Unlike malignant (cancerous) sarcomas, benign sarcomas generally do not invade nearby tissues or spread to other parts of the body. In some cases, benign sarcomas may need to be removed if they cause pain, discomfort, or other complications. It's important to consult with a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and management of any soft tissue tumours.

These are just some examples of sarcoma subtypes, and there are additional rare subtypes as well.  As these are rare and complex cancers they should be managed by specialist teams in high volume centres.
